Master the essentials of skin care.
The Microdermabrasion & Skin Care Technician program teaches students how to operate high-frequency, galvanic, and ultrasonic devices. Students also learn how to effectively use medical exfoliators, pore extraction techniques, toners, and moisturizers. This foundational program builds the hands-on skills needed to deliver professional-quality skin care treatments and serves as the prerequisite for the Advanced Skin Care Program.

What you will be able to do.
- Perform an aesthetic facial assessment
- Understand the anatomy of human skin
- Use toners and moisturizers effectively
- Perform pore extraction and deep cleansing techniques
- Conduct initial client consultation and provide after-care guidance
- Perform medical exfoliating procedures
- Discuss safety and disposal standards
- Operate and maintain treatment equipment
- Use the Diamond tip microdermabrasion effectively
- Perform microdermabrasion and chemical peel treatments
- Perform high-frequency treatments
- Perform galvanic and ultrasonic techniques
How to qualify.
- Minimum age: completed grade 12 or be a minimum of 19 years of age
- Photo ID required (Driver's License, Passport, or BCID)
- Completed Student Enrolment Contract before application is processed
This is a Class B program — no prior experience or prerequisite program is required. Ashford Career College nor the student applicant may waive the admission requirements.
This program is the prerequisite for the Advanced Skin Care Program.
Start Dates
Year-round enrollment. Begin once registration and payment are complete. Spots are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
