Our Aesthetic Dermatology Technician program teaches students how to operate laser IPL machines for hair removal, skin rejuvenation, pigmentation treatment, and spider vein removal. Students identify common skin disorders while learning to perform full facial treatments using ozone therapy, steaming, and high-frequency and radio-frequency devices. This is the ideal entry point into the field — and the prerequisite program for several of our advanced certifications.

A broad foundation of skin care and entry-level laser techniques.
What you will be able to do.
- Perform an aesthetic facial assessment
- Understand the anatomy of human skin and common skin disorders
- Perform deep vacuum pore cleansing and extraction
- Conduct initial client consultation and provide after-care guidance
- Discuss safety, sanitation, and disposal standards
- Operate and maintain treatment equipment
- Operate and perform facial steaming therapy
- Perform galvanic lifting and ultrasonic treatments
- Perform microdermabrasion treatments
- Perform high-frequency treatments
- Operate and perform radio frequency treatments
- Perform introductory laser IPL treatments
- Perform introductory training in chemical peels
How to qualify.
- Minimum age: completed grade 12 or be a minimum of 19 years of age
- Photo ID required (Driver's License, Passport, or BCID)
- Completed Student Enrolment Contract before application is processed
This is a Class B program — no prior experience or prerequisite program is required. Ashford Career College nor the student applicant may waive the admission requirements.
This program is the prerequisite for the Advanced Laser & Skin Care Program. Many students use it as their entry point into a longer career pathway.
Start Dates
Year-round enrollment. Begin once registration and payment are complete. Spots are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
