Learning Objectives

What you will be able to do.

  • Apply foundational knowledge of laser and skincare principles in simulated clinical scenarios
  • Analyze advanced techniques for skin rejuvenation including fractional laser, microneedling, and RF treatments, and assess their effectiveness
  • Diagnose and categorize skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, rosacea, and acne — understanding underlying causes and appropriate treatment options
  • Integrate advanced theoretical knowledge into hands-on practice with laser devices and skincare treatments, including chemical peels
  • Implement comprehensive sanitation protocols to maintain a sterile environment and ensure patient safety during all treatments
  • Conduct thorough client consultations, observe and assess patient conditions, and perform regular testing and maintenance of equipment
  • Explain the biological mechanisms and stages of healing for various laser and skincare treatments, and how to maintain results over time
  • Evaluate different laser and skincare techniques — ablative vs. non-ablative — and discuss their indications, benefits, and limitations
  • Create and implement detailed consultation and after-care plans tailored to individual patient needs, ensuring optimal treatment outcomes
Admission Requirements

How to qualify.

  • Minimum age: completed grade 12 or be a minimum of 19 years of age
  • Photo ID required (Driver's License, Passport, or BCID)
  • Completed Student Enrolment Contract before application is processed
  • Prerequisite: Aesthetic Dermatology Technician Program (30 hours) from Ashford Career College — or an equivalent credential from a recognized institution covering the same fundamentals (minimum 30 hours, with detailed curriculum submitted for review)

Ashford Career College nor the student applicant may waive the admission requirements.
